why not just buy the torque engine itself and start there bob? $100 isn't too much, Tribes2 cost $10 so for 10x that price you can create Tribes2, Tribes1 with Tribes2 graphics, Tribes Vengeance on a Tribes2 platform, Starsiege on a Tribes2 Platform, CS, w/e you want;-).... Even pornographic strippers in Virtual :-D

Creating a game in Torque is not quite as easy as it seems. The SS2845 project is trying to do just that with support from VU and a talented dev team and they are WAY behind schedule. When they ripped up T2 to make Torque, they tore it to the bone.

I'm not saying not to buy the engine, it really is an amazing bargain. What I'm saying is that you shouldn't expect to release a full blown game in a matter of hours (or days, or weeks or even months).

Or years. It's one of the main reasons I stick with Tribes 1. All of the content and player base is allready there.

T2 would be great if they could do away with the auth system so the game would really be free, but I don't see it happening any time soon. Legends doesn't have the player base, but they don't have auth servers so it almost evens out.

shrug I'm gonna buy the engine; however I don't plan to create a full blown game, just something for everyone to tinker on...

I would like to create an import program to import all the stuff from tribes1 *like DOX maps* and custom maps to Torque, is this possible? So people can map in t1 *HINT* *HINT* and put it in Torque, or use there models from t1 *HINT* *HINT* and put them in Torque...

That'd be nice eh? ;-)

Some of that can already be done with the Torque Example program without buying the code. You won't have teams, but you will have a playable game.

so you can import tribes stuff into it?

so if I made a skin I can just tell torque to use the tribes models contained in the .vol and it'll do so? ;-), it's already capable? :-)

and nah I'll just buy it, taxes coming up and I'll have some $$$$$ man... I'm always makin that money man :-)

Heck Sevnn if I can get a promising team together to dev a fun game I'll even buy the expansion, Shader... I don't mind paying $250 for fun :-)
